Welcome to The Writer's Wellspring

"I long to see you so that I may impart on you some spiritual gift to make you strong — that is that you and I may be mutually inspired by each other's faith." Rom 12:11-12 (NIV)

People tend to view being a writer as a glamorous but lonely enterprise. The common mental picture is of a shut-in pounding away at a keyboard, surrounded by dusty tomes, discarded scraps, and empty bottles or coffee mugs. While there is a bit of truth to that perception, writing doesn't have to be a completely solitary journey. I have been blessed to meet writers from all walks of life: from the young to the well-seasoned, from the undiscovered to the well known, from fiction fanatics to history buffs, and everything in between. Each has played a pivotal role in my life (both personally and as a writer), and nothing gives me more joy than spending time with other writers, sharing each others joys and struggles.

In the digital age its easier than ever to connect with people who share common interests; we can swap stories, ask for advice, or seek out a sympathetic shoulder when our latest revision has been lost in a computer meltdown. There are numerous websites, magazines, and blogs dedicated to helping us improve our craft, find new writing opportunities, and stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zones. What I haven't found a lot of are places designed specifically for the building up and edification of writers. They're out there, I have no doubt of that, but they seem to be few and far between.

My desire for The Writer's Wellspring is to create a haven dedicated to encouraging, refreshing, and inspiring my writer friends. It may be something as simple as a snapshot of a moss-covered log in a forest glen discovered while on a hike, or it could a post celebrating a door that has opened up a new adventure.

It is my hope that The Writer's Wellspring will become a frequent resting place where you'll find the inspiration and encouragement to continue with whatever your work in progress may be.
